Village Elementary School
PUBLIC + CIVIC / CORONADO, CA
The original landscape for Village Elementary was all lawn and large trees that had developed extensive surface roots and proceeded to damage the adjacent paving and bind doors to the classrooms. Environs designed a replacement landscape that is almost completely porous to allow for all water to be retained and infiltrated on site. A new outdoor classroom was designed and implemented along with an organic vision of the planters + inert material.
As with the Demonstration Garden + ECDC, soils, grading + drainage, topography, plant materials + irrigation are all integrated components to a successful sustainable landscape.
